When you find a top-notch salesperson, the last thing you want is for them to leave. But for many managers, it’s a frustrating reality. While some employee attrition is natural (and at times, beneficial), the disruption can negatively impact your existing team, not to mention all the time and money you’ll spend recruiting new sales staff.
Unfortunately, across all Australian industries, people are leaving their jobs in droves. Business Insider Australia reports one in seven Australians are currently seeking a new role. The sales industry is certainly not immune.

Here is Tip One: Get to know your team
Get to know your team
You may think you know your current team pretty well. You’ve got a great charmer, one who is always ready with a smile and a joke or two to get the customer onside. Then there’s your fact-checker, keen to answer the toughest technical questions. And finally, there’s your master of number-crunching with a nifty knack for making clients feel they’ve secured the best deal.
But do you really understand what makes each one tick? What motivates them individually? What thought processes they follow when decision making? What method of communication work best with each of them? Understanding all of these things – and more – is vital to being able to give them what they most need and want in their job, thus, increase the chances of them staying.
